I'd like to introduce the newest member of my family, Ami (full name Puffy AmiYumi):
Yep, I got a hamster, a ham-ham, a fluffy little hammy. It was my Valentine's Day present from Eric and quite a surprise! I do appreciate the advice Chris, Ren, Joanne, Steve, Stacie, Mandy and others gave me to not get one. I guess I just have to learn some things for myself.
The photo is a little blurry as I was taking it through her plastic habitat (that is complete with a very quiet exercise wheel). As the books I'm reading suggest, I'm not going to handle her for a few days until she's used to her new home.

Congratulations!
I do love hamsters, so you were wise to disregard my advice. I'll probably disregard my own advice and get another one ourselves one of these days (the kids are bugging me about it).
Keep you camera ready - maybe you'll make Cute Overload...
Congrats! She's a cute little ball of out of focus fur.
I like her name. :-)
Re ignoring the anti-hammy advice:
As my husband says when, on Diet Day 2, I ask whether he wants ice cream: I see that glint in your eyes and won't even try to talk you down.
awww. cutie! it's not that we don't like hamsters, obviously we all love them and are happy you got one.
Um... did I ever tell you what happened to the last hamster I owned...?
Thanks everyone!
@Ian: um, no...not sure I want you too...
Hmm, I could've sworn I left a comment. Maybe it didn't go through. Anyway, I wanted to say "Hi, hi" to your cute new little pet!
I don't think you do. Let's just say it was an accident...
Bring her to Con so we can watch her roll around inside her ball in the hotel bar. Also there's lots of useless printed material she can chew on at the convention.
Aww she's cute as heck. :) I might be a tiny bit envious of her cuteness. I was looking at CuteOverload recently and looked at the pics and website of the guy who has the hamster and thought awww I want one again. But I'm fairly certain the ferrets would not appreciate it. (Except as a potential meal)
@Nathan: yesterday Eric said "well Ami is a pocket pet, so we could take her to Comic Con."
me: "oh, you read Nathan's comment on my blog?"
eric: "no, I didn't look at your blog today."
I don't know though, guys. We'll see.
At least you only got one. I am still traumatized from sixth grade when one of our class hamsters (Tail) died and the other one (Head) ate his head. It was my day to feed and water. I will never be the same. One word: gerbils.
soooo cute!
