Can You Hear Me Now?

As I was walking into a public restroom last night, another woman was just ahead of me, dialing her cell phone. We went into stalls right next to each other. As soon as the stall doors closed, she started talking on the phone, as well as attending to her other needs. I did my 'business' and then paused, wondering what the protocol for flushing was since she was on the phone and it would obviously interupt her conversation.

Wait a minute! Why was I trying to be considerate? She was the one talking on her cell phone, in a public place, all while using the toilet. Who was the rude one? I decided that she was and flushed away. I think I've only ever called someone while in a bathroom stall once and I was drunk at the time so...I know, I know...still not okay.

You did the right thing by flushing. I hate bathroom cell conversations. A friend of mine flushes ALL the stalls in her work bathroom when she happens across a woman who regularly talks on her cell phone in the stall. Hee, hee...

Agh! I hate that. It is just so weird and icky. And so help me if I ever had a friend talk to me whilst in the bathroom, I'd hang up on the person and not accept phone calls from them.

Even worse is when you're in a stall, attending to matters, and someone enters the stall beside you and a minute later says, "Hey! How ya' doing?" and, sheepishly, you answer only to find that he has sat down and called his wife from the toilet stall. That definitely wants to make you flush and make as much noise as possible.

i have a sneaking suspicion that if you called anyone while drunk and in a bathroom stall...it was me.

and we have a mutual friend who used to call antother mutual friend ONLY from the bathroom. and then he would insist that the other person go into the bathroom as well. talk about creepy!

Good guess, Ren, but I only remember calling my sister from that locale.

I have no idea about these mutual friends of ours, but I'm going to make some guesses (and then you have to promise to tell me!)

I had that happen a few years ago. I mean, someone in the stall next to me said "Hi" and I answered. Then she said "how are you" and I said "fine". Then she said "hold on" to the person she was talking to and told me she was on the phone. I responded with "eww" but was really embarrassed.
I would've flushed twice had I been you.
