A Good Read

This probably isn't a good way to get National De-lurking Week* comments, but I just have to recommend this book. To the one or two of you who might enjoy it. Some of you may have kids that would like it, as it is technically for them. Even though I'm not a parent, I love children's books and have collected quite a few. This one was high on my wish list and E found a used copy for me.

I, Freddy
I, Freddy by Dietlof Reiche

I, Freddy is the first of five in a series by a German author. It's the story of Freddy, a golden hamster (like Ami!) who is quite precocious. His adventures, which include learning to read and befriending a tomcat and two smelly guinea pigs, are described from his point of view. I laughed out loud a lot. It's clever and, though I hate to use the word, precious.

Now I just need to get my hands on the rest of the series!

*That was supposed to be a hint for anyone lurking here to say 'hi!'

OK, so I suppose I'm a bit of a lurker in that I almost always see your new posts in Google Reader, yet rarely ever click over to comment. But I rarely comment on anyone's blog, so don't take it personally. And what you said on my blog about not always knowing if people are being serious or sarcastic, I'm right there with you. In fact, I've had problems with real-life people's e-mails and not knowing if they were being sincere or not. So I rarely comment, because I don't want to come off as rude or whatever, as well. That said, I see you every day. And I actually don't mind all the Ami stuff. I think I've said before that he's the cutest hamster I've ever seen. And I hate hamsters, so there you go!

I'm always confused - are regulars supposed to comment on delurking posts?

What's delurking? Amazon has all the books, thanks for the recommendation (getting them for the J). Book 2 was the hardest, but it is available like new for a penny + $3.49 shipping.

@S.J.: I don't know. I always wonder that too.

@Brenda: De-lurking is commenting on a blog you read, but never comment on (lurking). So far, I've met no one I didn't know was around.

Let me know if J. enjoys the books. I hope to get 2-5 soon!

I don't think I've lurked here before. I like the cover of the hamster book. As a kid I had gerbils and rats but no hamsters.

I get about as many comments on my blog as I get readers. It must mean that all my readers - both of them - read AND comment.

I have a lurker free blog!

(I almost have a reader free blog too..!)
