Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.

Update 06/29/09, 6:45am: Even though the results are somewhat tied below, I concede that listening to someone read a book to me is not the same thing as me reading that book. Sort of. I'm having trouble accepting the fact that I have to make two lists now: "Books I've Read This Year" and "Books Someone Else Read To Me This Year." Seems awkward.

I find I like audio books while I'm house cleaning or travelling. Doesn't require a ton of focus but I'm still getting the story.

I need a maybe! I voted no because I wouldn't count it *for myself* but I don't care one bit if anyone else counts it.

Equal but different -- hearing a story, to me is different than reading a story. I like them both!

I like to read and visualize myself ... but there are times when hands free listening is rewarding too.
